FND Research Connect is delighted to be assisting with recruitment for this study by researchers at The University of Melbourne, Australia, and The University of Fribourg, Switzerland,  researching the effect of sex hormones on the symptoms of functional neurological disorder. The information provided by the researchers is below.

FND Research Connect members have already been emailed an invitation to this study. If you haven’t received an invitation, you can follow the link in the text below to enrol in the study. We also recommend enrolling in FND Research Connect so that you can hear about new functional neurological disorder studies as they begin.

Hello! We are excited to announce our latest research project, aimed at understanding the role of sex hormones in functional neurological disorder (FND). This study aims to fill a gap in our knowledge on the impact of sex hormones and the menstrual cycle on FND. FND appears much more common in females and sexual and gender minority people globally, but we don’t really know why.

You have been invited to take part because you can help to improve our understanding of FND.

In this project, we will ask you to complete an anonymous online questionnaire (if you have FND), followed by a daily symptom diary over a menstrual cycle (if you have FND and are menstruating).

This study is conducted by researchers from The University of Melbourne, Australia, and The University of Fribourg, Switzerland.

You get to decide whether you take part in this project. Participation is open to anyone who has functional neurological disorder (FND). Your participation is voluntary. You can say yes or no.

This study is anonymous. All information will be treated in the strictest confidence. If you consent to participate, your responses will be kept confidential.
